Swallowed in the Disappearing Act

Like fog settling upon darkened roads,
I find my cluttered mind surrounded by you once again.
Absent as you were from the palms of my hands,
as vacant as the shadowy lots of my soul have been,
these are the thoughts that I cannot deny,
bequeathed by your tender touch.
My world once again collides with yours,
embracing, rather, your ethereal figure,
feeling every breath thrown against the earth beneath your feet,
drawing you into the honey-soaked air between my teeth.
I dig my nails in, wrists heavy with your memory,
trying to figure out how you disappeared so suddenly,
but once again, you vanish into black asphalt,
like fog settling upon darkened roads.
